The Karnataka government has extended the deadline for ration card e-KYC to October 20. Beneficiaries who receive subsidised foodgrains and other benefits linked to their ration cards must complete biometric verification before the revised deadline.

The earlier deadline for completing the process was September 30. Under the e-KYC requirement, every member whose name appears on a ration card must complete biometric authentication, such as fingerprint verification.

Members who fail to complete the process within the specified period may have their names temporarily suspended or removed by the Food Department. This could affect access to subsidised rice and other government benefits connected with the ration card.

How to Check Karnataka Ration Card e-KYC Status

Ration card holders can check whether their e-KYC has been completed through the Karnataka Food Department’s official website.

Visit ahara.kar.nic.in and open the three-line menu on the homepage. Select e-Services, followed by e-Ration Card and then Show RCs (Ration Card Details).

Choose either the Bengaluru Zone or Other Districts Zone, depending on the location of the ration card. Next, select RC Status, enter the 12-digit ration card number and click Go.

The details of all family members listed on the ration card will be displayed. A green Success status means the e-KYC has been completed, while Pending or a blank status indicates that verification is still incomplete.

Documents Needed for e-KYC

Beneficiaries should keep their ration card number and the Aadhaar cards of all family members ready for the verification process.

For online verification, beneficiaries whose mobile numbers are linked with Aadhaar can use mobile applications to complete the process from home.

The Mera Ration and Aadhaar FaceRD applications can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Users can select the Aadhaar Seeding or e-KYC option, provide the required ration card and Aadhaar details, and complete verification through OTP or face recognition, wherever applicable.

How to Complete e-KYC Offline

For offline verification, all family members listed on the ration card can visit their regular fair price shop with their Aadhaar cards and ration card number.

The e-KYC can be completed free of charge through fingerprint authentication on the e-POS machine available at the fair price shop.

If technical problems prevent the process from being completed at the fair price shop, beneficiaries can also approach their nearest Grama One, Karnataka One or Bengaluru One centre for assistance.

Ration card beneficiaries should complete the verification by October 20 to avoid disruption to subsidised foodgrains and other benefits linked to their ration card.
