The Jio IPO has drawn substantial interest from investors, with the public issue receiving strong demand during its subscription period from October 21 to October 23. The ₹30,213 crore offering was subscribed multiple times across investor categories, while reports suggest that the total number of applications could exceed 1 crore.

According to data from the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the IPO was subscribed 22.19 times overall. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) category recorded 70.55 times subscription, while the non-institutional investor category was subscribed 14 times. Retail investors subscribed 2.72 times their allotted portion.

The scale of participation has placed the Jio IPO among the most closely watched public offerings in the Indian stock market.

Jio IPO Receives Bids Worth Several Lakh Crore Rupees

Investor demand for the Jio IPO has been reflected in the total value of bids received. Including bids from anchor investors, the amount reportedly reached ₹7.4 lakh crore. Excluding anchor investors, bids were valued at more than ₹4.9 lakh crore.

The offering also attracted attention because of the expected number of applications. Reports indicate that applications could cross 10 million, or 1 crore. For comparison, the Waaree Energies IPO previously received approximately 97.3 lakh applications.

The final application count will determine whether the Jio IPO sets a new record in terms of investor participation.

Jio IPO Becomes the Largest Public Issue by Issue Size

With an issue size of ₹30,213 crore, the Jio IPO has surpassed several major public offerings in India by the amount raised. Earlier large IPOs included Hyundai Motor India at approximately ₹27,870 crore, NSE India at around ₹22,561 crore and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) at nearly ₹21,008 crore.

The size of the Jio offering has made it a significant event in India’s primary market, attracting interest from institutional investors as well as individual applicants.

Fresh Issue of Shares: What Investors Should Know

The Jio IPO consists entirely of newly issued shares, with no Offer for Sale (OFS) component. This means existing shareholders are not selling their holdings through the offering.

In a fresh issue, the proceeds go to the company, which can use the funds for its stated corporate purposes and business objectives. This differs from an OFS, where the proceeds generally go to the shareholders selling their shares.

Reports also indicate that investors were able to complete the IPO subscription process within approximately 100 minutes. However, the time required for application processing and allotment may vary depending on the volume of applications and the procedures involved.

Jio IPO Price and Estimated Market Capitalisation

The reported IPO price is around ₹1,119 per share. Based on this valuation, Jio’s estimated market capitalisation is approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore.

If the company is listed at a valuation close to this estimate, it could rank among India’s largest publicly traded companies by market capitalisation. The actual market value after listing will depend on the share price in the stock market.

Investors should distinguish between IPO subscription figures, estimated valuations and actual listing performance, as these represent different aspects of the public offering.
