Heavy and continuous rainfall has disrupted normal life across several parts of Uttar Pradesh. In view of the severe weather conditions and rain alert, schools up to Class 12 have been ordered to remain closed in several districts.
The state capital Lucknow and other areas have received heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours amid cyclonic conditions. The persistent rain has affected road traffic and caused difficulties for residents. Several rain-related accidents have also been reported from different parts of the state.
Relief Commissioner Reviews Situation
Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod held a video conference with District Magistrates of areas covered under red and orange alerts to assess the prevailing weather conditions and emergency preparedness.
During the meeting, officials were instructed to remain active on the ground and keep a close watch on local developments. They were also directed to respond promptly to any emergency arising due to the ongoing rainfall.
Heavy Rain Warning for Eastern and Western UP
According to the India Meteorological Department forecast, unsettled weather is expected to continue across Uttar Pradesh on Saturday and Sunday.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh has been issued a warning for very heavy rainfall, while several areas may also experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds.
In western Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected to continue until September 27. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the state continues to experience adverse weather conditions.
