Tata Motors has introduced its new compact sedan, the Tata Aeris, in India with a starting price of ₹5.30 lakh. The model is based on the Tigor but comes with updated styling, a refreshed cabin and several new features.
The Tata Aeris is available with petrol and CNG powertrains, along with manual and AMT transmission options. Depending on the variant and powertrain, prices go up to ₹9.75 lakh. Key features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a 360-degree camera.
Tata Aeris Price and Variants
The new Tata Aeris is offered in five variants: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished.
The petrol-manual version starts at ₹5.30 lakh, while the petrol AMT has a starting price of ₹6.70 lakh. The iCNG manual variant starts at ₹6.30 lakh.
At the top end, the Accomplished variant is priced at ₹8.20 lakh with the petrol manual setup, ₹8.75 lakh with petrol AMT and ₹9.20 lakh with the iCNG manual. The iCNG AMT is the most expensive version, carrying a price tag of ₹9.75 lakh.
Updated Exterior and Premium Interior
Tata has given the Aeris a substantially different exterior to distinguish it from the earlier Tigor. At the front, the sedan gets sharper LED headlamps and DRLs, along with newly designed 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
The rear section features connected LED tail lamps and a wider lower grille with C-shaped housing. Wheel-arch cladding, a black dual-tone roof and a shark-fin antenna further add to its styling. The car also gets chrome-lined door handles, a raised bonnet and a sculpted boot design.
Inside, the Aeris receives a more modern dashboard with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system and a 5-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Tata’s iRA connected-car technology.
Other cabin features include wireless charging, a dual-smartphone dock, ventilated leatherette front seats and automatic climate control. Rear passengers get dedicated AC vents, while additional equipment includes a six-speaker audio system, 65W Type-C charging, PEPS, a cooled glovebox and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
AMT variants also come with a rotary gear selector and paddle shifters.
1.2-Litre Petrol and CNG Engine Options
The Tata Aeris uses a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT gearbox.
In the CNG version, the same 1.2-litre engine develops 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. The iCNG variants are also available with both a 5-speed manual and AMT transmission.
The petrol model gets a 35-litre fuel tank, while the iCNG version uses a CNG tank with a 70-litre water capacity.
Safety Features and Camera Technology
Safety equipment on the Tata Aeris includes six airbags as standard, along with ESP, ABS, EBD, Corner Stability Control, Hill-Hold Control and ISOFIX mounts.
The sedan also gets an iTPMS, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a rear defogger. Higher variants add more advanced equipment, including a dashcam recorder, 360-degree SVS HD camera, blind-view monitor and HD reversing camera.
