Suriya’s latest film, Scene, has recorded a stronger opening than his previous two releases this year. Directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, the film marks his Tamil debut and features Nazriya Nazim and Naslen alongside Suriya.

Released in theatres on Friday, just ahead of Diwali, the movie received largely positive reviews. It collected more than Rs 19 crore on its opening day, surpassing the first-day earnings of Suriya’s earlier releases, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons. However, its opening remained below the figures recorded by Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.

Scene Box Office Collection Day 1

According to trade website Sacnilk, Scene earned approximately Rs 19.15 crore net in India on its first day.

The Tamil version accounted for Rs 16.15 crore, while the dubbed versions contributed another Rs 3 crore. The film also collected around Rs 12 crore from overseas markets.

With the Diwali holiday period and its opening weekend still ahead, the film’s box office performance over the next few days will be important in determining its overall theatrical run.

Suriya’s Previous Films: Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons

The opening of Scene is higher than the first-day collections of Suriya’s two earlier films released this year.

RJ Balaji’s Karuppu, which arrived in theatres in May, collected Rs 15.50 crore on its opening day. This included Rs 13.10 crore from the Tamil version and Rs 2.40 crore from the Telugu version.

His August release, Vishwanath & Sons, started with Rs 15.35 crore. The Tamil version contributed Rs 9.15 crore, while the Telugu version added Rs 6.20 crore.

With Scene opening at Rs 19.15 crore, Suriya has registered his biggest first-day collection among these three releases.

Jailer 2 and Jana Nayagan Record Bigger Openings

Although Scene has delivered a strong opening, it has not reached the highest first-day collections recorded by major Tamil releases this year.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 leads with an opening collection of Rs 59.70 crore. Vijay’s Jana Nayagan follows with Rs 42.70 crore on its first day.

These figures remain well ahead of the opening recorded by Suriya’s latest release.

Can Scene Beat Suriya’s Previous Box Office Records?

Among Suriya’s recent films, Karuppu remains his highest-grossing release, with a reported lifetime collection of Rs 310.12 crore.

Vishwanath & Sons finished its theatrical run with Rs 209.46 crore.

Whether Scene can challenge or surpass these lifetime figures will become clearer as its box office journey progresses. Its opening-day performance has provided a promising start, but its overall success will depend on how well it performs in the coming days.
