Renault has expanded the Triber lineup in India with a new turbo-petrol version. Called the Renault Triber 100 PS Turbo, the new model starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹7.84 lakh and comes with a more powerful engine, updated chassis setup and additional mechanical changes.
The biggest update is the new 1.0-litre TCe 100 turbo-petrol engine, which produces 100 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. Renault claims the new Triber can deliver a fuel efficiency of up to 21 kmpl despite the addition of the turbocharged engine.
Renault Triber Turbo Price and Variants
The new Triber Turbo is available in three variants: Evolution, Techno and Emotion. Prices start at ₹7,84,900 for the Evolution Turbo and go up to ₹8,99,900 for the top-spec Emotion Turbo. At present, the turbo-petrol engine is offered only with a manual transmission.
The regular Triber continues with Renault’s ‘Energy’ petrol engine. It is available in Authentic, Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants. Prices for the Energy version begin at ₹5,80,875 and go up to ₹8,52,950 for the Emotion AMT variant.
The new 1.0-litre TCe 100 engine is the key highlight of the Turbo model. It develops 100 PS and 180 Nm, with Renault claiming that the 180 Nm torque output is the highest in its segment.
Renault has also introduced its new R-EMS (Engine Management System) with the turbo engine. The system is designed to optimise engine response as well as fuel efficiency. The company claims a mileage figure of 21 kmpl for the Triber Turbo.
New RGEP Platform and Mechanical Changes
The Triber Turbo also marks the introduction of Renault Group’s Entry Platform (RGEP) architecture in India. Renault has made several changes to the suspension and chassis setup to suit the more powerful engine.
The suspension geometry has been revised, while anti-roll bars have been added at both the front and rear. The car also gets MTV damper technology, along with revised braking calibration and vehicle dynamics tuned specifically for the turbocharged powertrain.
Modular Cabin, Features and 625-Litre Boot
The modular interior remains one of the key features of the Renault Triber, and the same flexibility is available in the Turbo version. The cabin can be configured to accommodate five, six or seven occupants.
The second row gets sliding and reclining functionality, while the third row can be accessed using one-touch tumble seats. With the vehicle configured as a five-seater, the Triber offers up to 625 litres of boot space. It also provides 23 litres of storage space inside the cabin and has a ground clearance of 182 mm.
Feature highlights include an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car also gets a digital LED instrument cluster, automatic air conditioning, cruise control and wireless charging.
Other equipment includes rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, push-button start and a smart access card. Independent rear AC vents are available for passengers in both the second and third rows. The lighting package includes LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs and LED tail lamps.
Safety Features
The Renault Triber 100 PS range comes with six airbags as standard, along with 21 safety features. The safety equipment also includes front parking sensors, a rear-view camera with guidelines and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Renault says it has sold more than 2.5 lakh units of the Triber in India so far.
