Renault Duster Hybrid: Renault is preparing to expand its new-generation Duster lineup in India with a strong hybrid variant. The Renault Duster Hybrid is scheduled to launch on October 17, 2026, bringing a 1,789cc petrol engine, electric motor and 1.4 kWh battery to the SUV.
The hybrid system will produce a combined 160 hp and 172 Nm, positioning the Duster against strong-hybrid SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Renault Duster Hybrid Powertrain and Performance
The upcoming Duster Hybrid will use a 1,789cc naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49 hp traction motor and a 20 hp starter-generator. Together, the system delivers 160 hp and 172 Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a multi-mode automatic transmission. Depending on factors such as vehicle speed, battery charge and accelerator input, the system can operate using the electric motor, petrol engine or a combination of both.
Renault will continue selling the existing petrol-powered Duster alongside the hybrid version. The current range includes a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 100 hp and 160 Nm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
A more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine is also available, producing 163 hp and 280 Nm. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed wet-clutch DCT.
Features and Safety Equipment
The Renault Duster Hybrid will come with a range of technology and convenience features. These are expected to include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging and dual-zone climate control.
Safety equipment will include six airbags and a 360-degree camera. Selected variants will also get Level 2 ADAS, bringing a range of advanced driver-assistance functions to the SUV.
The hybrid setup is also expected to allow the vehicle to use electric power in suitable driving conditions, supporting more efficient operation during city driving.
Renault Duster Hybrid Price in India
Renault has not announced the Duster Hybrid’s India price yet. The official pricing will be revealed when the SUV launches on October 17, 2026.
The existing Renault Duster range is currently priced between ₹10.49 lakh and ₹18.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the hybrid version uses a more complex powertrain, it is expected to sit above the entry-level petrol variants.
The Duster Hybrid will enter a segment that already includes the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder with hybrid technology. Renault’s new model will therefore compete on a combination of performance, efficiency, features and pricing.
