Applying for a ration card has become easier with online services, but applicants need to keep several documents ready before submitting the application. Uploading only an Aadhaar card or address proof is not enough.
Applicants are required to submit multiple documents digitally, including a photograph of their house. Having scanned copies ready can make the online application process much smoother.
Documents Required for a Ration Card
Applicants should keep the following documents ready before starting the online ration card application:
- Aadhaar Card
- Residence Certificate
- Income Certificate
- Birth Certificates
- Photograph of the House
- Bank Account Details
In addition to these documents, the applicant or head of the household must provide a photograph and mobile number. The registered mobile number is verified through an OTP during the application process.
Birth certificates are required for all members of the household, while Aadhaar numbers of other family members also need to be entered in the application form.
How to Apply for a Ration Card Online
The application can be submitted online through the e-District portal. Applicants can also visit a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) or Public Service Centre for assistance.
Before beginning the process, applicants should scan all the required documents and keep the files ready for uploading.
First, the applicant needs to register on the concerned portal and log in to the account. After logging in, select the option for a new ration card application.
The application form must then be completed with details such as the head of the family, residential address, bank account information and income. Details of other household members, including their names and Aadhaar numbers, must also be entered.
After completing the form, the applicant’s photograph and supporting documents, including the photograph of the house, need to be uploaded. The applicable application fee is then paid. Finally, the application can be submitted and the receipt printed for future reference.
Verification Before the Ration Card Is Issued
Submitting the online application does not immediately result in the issuance of a ration card. Once the application is submitted, it is forwarded to the Block Development Officer (BDO) or the regional food supply inspector for verification.
A physical verification is then conducted as part of the process. After the verification is completed, a digital ration card is issued within 30 days.
