The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has recorded an increase in farmer participation for the Kharif 2026 season. According to the figures provided, 2.83 crore farmers have insured their crops under the scheme, compared with 2.30 crore during Kharif 2025. This represents a rise of approximately 23 per cent year-on-year.

The government-backed crop insurance scheme aims to protect farmers from financial losses caused by natural disasters and crop damage. Eligible farmers can receive insurance compensation for covered crop losses, subject to the scheme’s prescribed rules and conditions.

PMFBY Web AI Bot Helps Farmers Register Complaints

To make grievance redressal more accessible, the PM Fasal Bima Yojana provides a Web AI Bot facility through which farmers can register complaints and obtain information about their concerns without visiting an office.

After a grievance is submitted, the system generates a complaint number that farmers can use to track its status. The facility also allows them to check updates regarding the action taken on their complaints.

Another key feature is multilingual interaction. Farmers can communicate with the AI bot by typing messages or using voice input in their preferred language, helping them access relevant information more conveniently.

How the PMFBY AI Bot Can Benefit Farmers

The Web AI Bot is designed to simplify the process of submitting and following up on complaints related to crop insurance. Farmers can use the facility to register grievances, retain their complaint reference number and check progress without repeatedly making enquiries through other channels.

The option to communicate in their own language may also help farmers who face difficulties navigating online services or understanding digital processes.

Crop Insurance and Digital Services Under PMFBY

The increase in participation during Kharif 2026, alongside the availability of digital grievance support, highlights two important aspects of the scheme: crop insurance coverage and easier access to assistance.

For participating farmers, crop insurance can provide financial support when covered crop losses occur, while the Web AI Bot offers a digital channel for raising concerns and tracking complaints. Together, these facilities aim to make crop insurance services and grievance management more accessible to farmers.
