OnePlus is reportedly preparing to expand its Turbo smartphone lineup with a new model, the OnePlus Turbo 7. The development comes after the company introduced the OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V in China earlier this year. The latest leak has revealed the possible launch timeline and several key specifications of the upcoming smartphone, suggesting upgrades in performance, camera capabilities and display technology.
The OnePlus Turbo 7 is expected to bring a more powerful processor, a high-resolution rear camera and a display with a higher refresh rate than its predecessor.
OnePlus Turbo 7 Launch Timeline and Expected Features
The OnePlus Turbo 7 could launch in China in December. If the reported timeline is accurate, the company may introduce the next-generation smartphone around a month earlier than the previous model.
The tipster also suggests that the upcoming handset could be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-released octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chipset. This could bring a considerable performance improvement compared to the processor used in the standard Turbo 6.
In the camera department, the OnePlus Turbo 7 is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel primary rear camera. However, the smartphone may not include a periscope telephoto camera, similar to its predecessor.
OnePlus Turbo 7 Display and Design Details
The display is expected to receive an upgrade, with the leaked information pointing towards a refresh rate of up to 185Hz in certain scenarios. Under other conditions, the screen could support a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.
The smartphone is also rumoured to feature a glass body, potentially bringing a different design approach to the Turbo series. However, OnePlus has not officially confirmed these specifications or shared any details about the device’s design.
OnePlus Turbo 6 Specifications and Price
The upcoming OnePlus Turbo 7 will succeed the OnePlus Turbo 6, which was launched in China on January 8. The smartphone was introduced at a starting price of CNY 2,099 (approximately Rs. 30,000) for the base variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The OnePlus Turbo 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, paired with an Adreno 825 GPU. It is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
For photography, the handset features a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel macro camera. On the front, it houses a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
The device is backed by a 9,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging. More details about the OnePlus Turbo 7, including its official launch date, pricing and availability, are yet to be announced.
