The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced revised maximum retail prices (MRPs) for 543 brands of anti-cancer medicines. The new prices will come into effect on November 9, 2026, according to a Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers release published through the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on October 28.

The updated list has been prepared using information submitted by pharmaceutical companies up to October 27. The NPPA said it would continue updating the list as manufacturers submit revised prices for additional non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines.

The authority operates under the Department of Pharmaceuticals. The latest price revisions follow its decision to rationalise trade margins on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs.

Major Price Cuts Announced for Several Cancer Medicines

The revised rates show significant reductions in the MRPs of several medicines across different strengths and pack sizes.

Anarzole, an anastrozole 1 mg tablet manufactured by RPG Life Sciences, will now cost Rs 73 for a pack of 10 tablets, compared with its previous price of Rs 695.76.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories’ Azacytin, an azacitidine 100 mg injection, will have a revised price of Rs 1,495.04, down from Rs 6,337. Meanwhile, Abbott Healthcare’s Bevacizab, a bevacizumab 100 mg/4 ml injection, will cost Rs 5,930.13 for a 4 ml vial, compared with the earlier MRP of Rs 21,767.70.

Other medicines have also received substantial price reductions, including treatments containing dasatinib, denosumab, enzalutamide, erlotinib, fludarabine and fulvestrant.

Trade Margin Rationalisation to Reduce Treatment Costs

On October 17, the NPPA announced its decision to rationalise trade margins on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines. According to the ministry, the measure aims to address excessive trade margins, lower treatment expenses and improve patients’ access to medicines.

Manufacturers were required to submit their revised prices to the authority following the decision.

The medicines covered by the measure include immunotherapies used in the treatment of more than 20 types of cancer. The ministry also identified denosumab, pegfilgrastim and bevacizumab among the medicines included in the initiative.

Patients and other interested individuals can check the complete list of 543 brands and their revised MRPs through the NPPA portal. The authority will update the list as it receives further price information from manufacturers.
