India secured a place in the men’s kabaddi semi-finals at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Bangladesh 48-25 in their third Group A match at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium in Aichi, Japan, on Wednesday.
The victory marked India’s third consecutive win in the group stage. They had previously recorded convincing victories over hosts Japan and the Republic of Korea.
India Dominate First Half
India started strongly and quickly established control over the contest. Their raiders and defenders worked effectively together, helping the team collect 18 out points and seven bonus points in the opening half.
India also completed two All-Outs during the first period, adding four more points to their growing advantage.
Bangladesh struggled to find consistent openings against the Indian defence. They managed just five out points and three bonus points in the first half, along with one point from a Super Tackle.
India’s strong all-round performance saw them take a commanding 29-9 lead into the interval.
Bangladesh Fight Back After Break
India made a change at the start of the second half, with Arjun Deshwal coming in for Devank Dalal as the team looked to maintain its momentum.
Bangladesh returned with a stronger attacking effort and improved their scoring considerably. They picked up eight out points and eight bonus points in the second half, finishing the period with 16 points.
India, however, continued to control the match and added 19 points of their own. Another All-Out further strengthened their position and ensured Bangladesh’s improved performance could not close the gap.
India eventually completed a 48-25 victory.
India Face Chinese Taipei Next
The win confirmed India’s place in the men’s kabaddi semi-finals and extended their perfect record to three wins in Group A.
India will play Chinese Taipei in their final group-stage match at 9:45 AM on September 24. The team will continue its campaign with the aim of securing a ninth men’s kabaddi gold medal at the Asian Games.
