Apple is reportedly planning to update three major products in its iPad range during the first half of 2027. The expected refresh includes the standard iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro, with possible improvements to display technology and performance.

The reported development follows Apple’s iPad mini update in October, which introduced an OLED display. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is now preparing updates for other models in its tablet lineup. Although the company has not officially confirmed these plans, the report suggests that several new iPads could arrive in the first six months of 2027.

iPad Air Could Receive an OLED Display

One of the most notable expected upgrades is an OLED panel for the next-generation iPad Air. The current iPad Air models use LCD displays, while Apple’s premium iPad Pro range already features OLED technology.

Moving to OLED could improve the viewing experience by delivering deeper blacks, stronger contrast and more vibrant colours. The change would also extend OLED technology to another model in Apple’s tablet portfolio, following its recent introduction on the iPad mini.

iPad Pro May Get Vapour Chamber Cooling

The next iPad Pro is expected to focus on improved performance. According to Gurman’s report, Apple is developing a faster version that could feature a vapour chamber cooling system.

This technology helps spread heat more effectively inside a device. As a result, the upcoming iPad Pro could maintain high performance for longer during demanding tasks, including gaming and intensive workloads.

New Entry-Level iPad Also Expected in 2027

Apple’s reported 2027 plans also include a refreshed standard iPad. However, the available report does not provide details about its processor, display, design or other hardware changes.

All three updated models are expected to arrive during the first half of 2027. Gurman does not currently anticipate further iPad launches in the second half of the year, although Apple’s product schedule could change.

Apple has not officially announced these tablets or confirmed their launch dates and specifications. More information is expected as the company moves closer to its planned product launches.
