Planning a trip to Oman? Visiting the Gulf nation could soon become easier and more affordable. The Sultanate of Oman has announced a new 14-day free tourist visa, a move aimed at attracting more international visitors and boosting the country’s tourism sector.
While authorities are yet to release the complete eligibility guidelines, the new visa is expected to simplify short-term travel for visitors from selected countries.
Oman Launches New Free 14-Day Tourist Visa
Under the new rules, eligible foreign nationals will be able to visit Oman for up to 14 days without paying any visa fee.
Travellers wishing to extend their stay beyond the two-week period will need to convert their entry permit into another tourist visa category and pay the applicable charges.
The new visa policy was introduced through Royal Oman Police Decision No. 109/2026, issued by Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs.
The decision was published in the country’s Official Gazette on August 2, 2026, and came into effect the following day.
Who Can Apply for the Free Oman Tourist Visa?
Although the visa has officially been introduced, Omani authorities have not yet released the list of eligible countries.
According to the new provisions, the competent authority will determine which nationalities qualify for the complimentary 14-day tourist visa and specify the applicable conditions.

Do Indian Citizens Need a Visa to Visit Oman?
Yes. Indian passport holders still require a visa to enter Oman.
However, Indians holding a valid visa or residence permit from any of the following countries can obtain a 14-day visa on arrival:
- United States
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- Australia
- Japan
- Any Schengen country
Travellers who do not meet these conditions must apply for an Oman eVisa before travelling.

Applicants for a short-term tourist visa generally need to provide:
- A valid passport with sufficient validity
- Confirmed return flight tickets
- Hotel booking or proof of accommodation
- Financial documents demonstrating sufficient funds
Business travellers are additionally required to submit:
- An invitation letter from the host company in Oman
- A covering letter from their employer in India
- Relevant business documents
- Financial proof
