In a major shift for the smartphone industry, OnePlus has confirmed that it will no longer launch new smartphones in North America and Europe. The announcement comes alongside its sister brand Oppo, which says it will take over the brand’s operations and integrate OnePlus’ technologies into its own product strategy.

The decision marks the end of OnePlus’ independent presence in two of its biggest international markets, although the company has not clarified whether it will continue introducing new devices in other regions.

OnePlus and Oppo Announce Strategic Realignment

OnePlus and Oppo described the move as part of a broader strategic restructuring, aimed at combining the strengths of both brands.

While neither company has provided details about OnePlus’ future product roadmap outside the US and Europe, Oppo said it plans to incorporate OnePlus’ technology, product philosophy, and engineering expertise into its own ecosystem.

The transition comes after OnePlus co-founder Peter Lau returned to Oppo in the role of Chief Product Officer, further strengthening the collaboration between the two smartphone makers.

Recent launches, including the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, demonstrate the company’s commitment to increasing its presence in the European premium smartphone market, although availability has varied across different countries.

What This Means for the Smartphone Market

The decision signals a significant change in OnePlus’ global strategy. While the brand will stop introducing new devices in Europe and North America, Oppo will absorb its technology and product expertise as part of a unified approach.
