Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its next flagship smartphone lineup, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro series confirmed to launch in China this September. The company has teased a distinctive rear display that will be integrated into the camera module, continuing an approach used in the previous generation.
The secondary screen is expected to offer more than just a visual element. Xiaomi has indicated that the rear display could support AI-generated content, wallpapers, notifications and interactive functions, although the company has not yet revealed the complete list of features.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Rear Display and AI Features
The teasers released for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series confirm that the rear display will return. It will be positioned within a horizontal Leica triple-camera module, giving the back panel a design similar to the previous model.
Details about the size and complete functionality of the screen remain undisclosed. Reports suggest that Xiaomi could reduce the bezels around the rear display compared with the earlier version. There are also reports of possible changes to the front camera placement and the addition of a new physical button on the phone’s frame.
The word “Generating” featured in Xiaomi’s teaser has also attracted attention, hinting at possible AI-powered functions. The previous Xiaomi 17 Pro’s rear display supported live wallpapers, interactive features, notifications, music controls and AI-generated animations.
With the new model, Xiaomi is reportedly looking to make the rear screen more useful as a secondary interface that can assist users with selected tasks.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Processor and Performance
According to reports, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset. Leaks have also suggested that the processor may be based on a 2nm manufacturing process.
If these reported specifications are accurate, the chipset could provide the performance required for demanding gaming, multitasking and AI-related workloads. However, Xiaomi has not yet officially confirmed the complete processor details.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Battery and Charging
The battery could be another major upgrade in the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. Reports indicate that the smartphone may feature a battery with a capacity of around 7,000mAh.
The device is also expected to support 100W wired fast charging along with wireless charging. Xiaomi has not yet provided complete official details about the charging capabilities.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Display and India Launch
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is reportedly expected to feature a compact OLED display measuring around 6.4 inches. Some listings have mentioned a 6.36-inch panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, but these specifications have not been officially confirmed by Xiaomi.
For now, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of the 18 Pro series only in China, where the smartphones are scheduled to debut this month. The company has not announced an official India launch date or confirmed whether the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be introduced in the country.
