The Udaipur-Surat Vande Bharat Express is set to begin regular operations from October 3, bringing a direct rail connection between Mewar and Surat. The service is an extension of the existing Udaipur-Asarva Vande Bharat route.
The train will reach Udaipur from Surat on October 2 at around 5:30 pm. Railway officials and public representatives are expected to be present for a welcome programme in Udaipur. Regular services from Udaipur to Surat will begin the following day.
The extension follows efforts by Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, with the Railway Ministry confirming the start of the extended service.
Vande Bharat Will Run Six Days a Week
The Udaipur-Surat Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, with Tuesday being the weekly day when the train will not run.
As per the announced timetable, the train will leave Udaipur at 3:35 pm and reach Zawar at 4:03 pm. It will then arrive at Dungarpur at 4:50 pm, Shamlaji Road at 5:27 pm, Himmatnagar at 6:18 pm and Asarva at 7:25 pm.
From there, the train will continue towards Maninagar, Anand, Vadodara and Bharuch before reaching Surat at around 11 pm.
The return service will depart from Surat at 6:10 am and reach Udaipur at approximately 1:40 pm after covering the scheduled stations on the route.
Direct Connectivity to Surat for Mewar Passengers
The extension is expected to make travel between Udaipur and Surat more convenient for passengers from Mewar. A significant number of people from the region travel to Surat for employment and business-related work.
Passengers travelling towards southern parts of India can also use Surat as a connecting point for onward rail journeys. At present, some travellers from Udaipur use road transport to reach Surat before continuing their journey by train.
With the Vande Bharat service reaching Surat directly from Udaipur, passengers will have another rail option for travelling between the two cities and for connecting onward journeys.
MP Mannalal Rawat Thanks Railway Ministry
MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat has expressed gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the extension of the Vande Bharat service to Surat. He said the long-standing demand for improved connectivity from Mewar had been taken up with the Railway Ministry.
The new service is expected to provide a direct connection between Udaipur and Surat while also improving travel options for passengers from the Mewar region travelling for work, business and other purposes.
