Consumers planning to buy home appliances during the upcoming festive season may have to spend more. Several major electronics and appliance manufacturers are preparing to increase prices from October 1, with air conditioners expected to see a sharper rise than products such as TVs, refrigerators and washing machines.

Companies including LG, Godrej, Blue Star and other major brands are preparing price revisions ahead of the festive shopping period. Air-conditioner prices are expected to rise by around 5–8%, while washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs could become 3–4% more expensive.

The price increases come at a time when demand for home appliances generally picks up during Navratri, Dussehra and Diwali. While some manufacturers are concerned that higher prices could affect festive sales, others expect the impact to remain limited because dealers and distributors have already stocked products purchased at earlier prices through bookings made during August and September.

Why Are Electronics Prices Increasing?

The planned price revisions are linked to higher input and operating costs faced by manufacturers. Prices of important raw materials such as copper, steel and aluminium have increased, while crude oil-related costs and transportation expenses have also put pressure on companies.

Fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and geopolitical instability in West Asia are also among the factors affecting the cost structure of consumer electronics and home appliances.

As a result, manufacturers of air conditioners, LED televisions and washing machines are preparing to pass on a portion of these higher costs to customers from October 1.

ACs, TVs and Other Appliances May Cost More

According to media reports, prices of several home appliances could increase by up to 8%. Air conditioners are expected to see an immediate price increase of around 5–8%, while washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs may become 3–4% more expensive.

The extent of the increase may vary between manufacturers and product categories. Consumers planning to make a festive-season purchase may therefore find that the price of the same appliance changes depending on the brand and model.

Which Brands Are Raising Prices?

According to PTI, several major electronics companies, including Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics, have confirmed price increases ranging from 4% to 10%.

The report, citing sources, also stated that LG and Bosch Home Comfort have increased AC prices by approximately 5%.

With festive demand traditionally rising during this period, manufacturers and retailers will be watching how consumers respond to the higher prices. Existing dealer inventory purchased at older rates could also influence the prices available in the market during the initial phase of the festive season.
