New Ration Card: Applying for a new ration card has become easier with the online application facility, but applicants now need to provide several documents for verification. Simply submitting an Aadhaar card or address proof is not enough.
Applicants are required to submit six important types of documents, including a photograph of their house. The details provided in the application are checked before the ration card is issued.
Documents Required for a New Ration Card
Those planning to apply for a new ration card need to keep all the required documents ready before starting the application. These include an Aadhaar card, residence certificate, income certificate, bank account details and a photograph of the house.
Birth certificates of all family members also need to be submitted. Along with these documents, the applicant or head of the household must provide a photograph and an active mobile number. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number for verification.
Therefore, uploading only an Aadhaar card does not complete the documentation requirement. Applicants should make sure that all the prescribed documents are available before submitting the form.
How to Apply for a Ration Card Online
The application can be submitted online through the e-District portal. Applicants can also visit a nearby Common Service Center (CSC) or Jan Seva Kendra for assistance.
Before beginning the process, keep scanned copies of all required documents ready. This will make it easier to upload the documents while completing the online form.
To apply, visit the relevant portal and register yourself first. After logging in, select the option for a new ration card application.
Fill in the required information carefully, including the details of the head of the household, residential address, income and bank account. The names and Aadhaar numbers of other family members must also be entered.
After completing the form, upload the required documents, including the applicant’s photograph and photograph of the house. Pay the applicable application fee and submit the form.
Once the application has been submitted successfully, download or print the application receipt and keep it safely for future reference.
Verification and Ration Card Issuance
The application does not result in immediate issuance of the ration card. After an online application is submitted, it is forwarded to the BDO or Regional Food Supply Inspector for scrutiny.
A physical verification is then carried out to check the information provided in the application. After the verification process is completed, the digital ration card is issued within 30 days.
