LPG Gas Cylinder: Indian Oil has issued an important advisory for LPG customers, warning them about people who may demand money by claiming to provide new LPG connections or other related services.
The oil marketing company has asked customers to remain cautious and make payments only through authorised channels. The warning comes shortly after the government revised LPG refill booking rules, reducing the waiting period for rural consumers from 45 days to 25 days.
Customers using Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas can also contact their respective oil marketing companies for assistance with bookings, complaints and other LPG-related issues.
Indian Oil Warns Customers About Fraud
Indian Oil recently cautioned customers through its official X account against unauthorised individuals asking for payments in the name of new LPG connections or related services.
The company advised consumers to rely only on official communication and authorised payment platforms. It also urged LPG users to remain alert to avoid falling victim to fraudulent requests.
Customers should therefore verify any payment request before making a transaction, particularly when someone approaches them regarding a new connection or LPG-related service.
LPG Refill Booking Gap Reduced to 25 Days
The government has also revised the LPG refill booking interval for domestic consumers. According to the latest decision, the inter-refill booking gap has been fixed at 25 days for all domestic LPG consumers, including those living in rural areas.
Earlier, a 45-day gap had been applicable to rural consumers, while urban customers were required to maintain a 25-day gap.
The earlier booking restrictions were introduced in March 2026 amid the LPG supply situation linked to the West Asia conflict. Before those measures were introduced, the usual refill booking gap was around 21 days.
With the latest revision, the 45-day refill booking requirement for rural customers has been removed, while the 25-day interval for urban consumers remains unchanged.
