Milk prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have increased from October 1, putting additional pressure on household budgets. The Indore Milk Vendors Association has approved a ₹3 per litre hike.
Following the revision, milk will now cost ₹68 per litre at dairies and shops, compared with the earlier price of ₹65. Customers opting for home delivery will have to pay an additional ₹1 per litre, taking the new home-delivery price to ₹69.
The revised rates have come into effect from October 1 and are expected to increase daily household spending on milk and other kitchen essentials.
Dairy Farmers to Receive Higher Payments
The increase in retail milk prices will also result in higher payments to dairy farmers. Under the revised rates, farmers will receive an additional 33 paise per pound of fat.
Milk prices are determined based on the fat content of the milk. The new rates apply to milk with a fat content ranging from 5.5 to 6 pounds.
Home Delivery Milk Now Costs ₹69 Per Litre
Consumers who receive milk at their homes will pay ₹69 per litre following the latest revision. This is ₹1 more than the revised shop and dairy price of ₹68 per litre.
The additional home-delivery charge means households relying on daily doorstep milk delivery will see a slightly higher monthly expense.
Could Milk Prices Rise in Other States?
The latest milk price increase has been announced for Indore, and the information currently applies to the city. However, milk prices could also see changes in other states from October 1, although the article does not specify any confirmed increases elsewhere.
The price revision comes at a time when the cost of several other products is also expected to change. Electronic devices are expected to become more expensive across the country from October 1, while home appliances are projected to see price increases of 5% to 8%.
As a result, products such as televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners could become more expensive, particularly during the Diwali season.
