Pensioners across India will soon have an easier way to submit their annual life certificates. The government is launching a nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign from November 1, 2026, with a special focus on face authentication technology.
Under this initiative, the government aims to generate 2.3 crore digital life certificates every month. Out of this target, approximately 1.5 crore certificates are expected to be created using face authentication. The facility is particularly intended to make the process more convenient for elderly pensioners who may find it difficult to visit banks or government offices.
Digital Life Certificate Campaign 2026: Important Dates
According to the reported information, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare will organise its fifth nationwide campaign from November 1 to November 30, 2026.
During this one-month drive, pensioners in around 2,000 cities and districts will be covered through digital life certificate facilities.
The government has set a target of 2.3 crore certificates during the campaign, with 1.5 crore expected to be generated through face authentication. This means that more than 65% of the overall target is expected to come through this digital verification method.
The initiative aims to increase the use of digital services and make annual life certificate submission easier for pension beneficiaries.
Face Authentication: Pensioners Can Submit Certificates Using Smartphones
Face authentication will be one of the main features of the 2026 campaign.
With this technology, pensioners can generate their Digital Life Certificate using an Android or iOS smartphone. They simply need to use their phone’s camera for facial verification instead of depending entirely on traditional physical verification methods.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will provide technical support for the campaign.
This facility is expected to make the verification process more accessible, especially for senior citizens who have difficulty travelling.
Banks, Post Offices and Government Departments to Participate
The nationwide campaign will involve several government departments and institutions working together to reach pensioners across the country.
Participating organisations will include pension-disbursing banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, CGDA, the Department of Telecommunications, Railways, EPFO, state governments, UIDAI and MeitY.
According to the reported plan, the campaign will involve 19 banks, 785 district post offices and 56 pensioners’ welfare associations.
The combined effort is intended to ensure that pensioners living in cities, smaller towns and remote locations can access digital life certificate services.
Health Checkups, Aadhaar Updates and Doorstep Assistance
Apart from digital life certificate registration, special camps will also provide additional facilities for pensioners.
These camps will offer services such as health checkups and Aadhaar updates, allowing senior citizens to complete several important tasks at a single location.
Where necessary, doorstep services will also be arranged for pensioners who are unable to travel to the camps.
The government will additionally appoint grievance officers to address complaints related to Digital Life Certificates and help resolve them promptly.
Mega camps will also be organised in locations where a large number of pensioners reside.
The campaign is intended to simplify the annual life certificate process and improve access to government services for pensioners across India.
