Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) reported a strong financial performance for the second quarter of FY27, with its consolidated net profit increasing 41% year-on-year. The company’s profit after tax (PAT) reached ₹25,548 crore in the September quarter, compared with ₹18,165 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Revenue from operations also recorded significant growth, rising 29% to ₹3.32 lakh crore from ₹2.58 lakh crore in Q2 FY26. The company’s Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) and digital services businesses were among the key contributors to its performance.

Compared with the June quarter, Reliance Industries’ net profit increased 27% from ₹20,196 crore, while revenue grew 6%.

Mukesh Ambani Comments on Reliance Industries Q2 Performance

Commenting on the quarterly results, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said the company delivered a strong performance despite challenging market conditions.

He highlighted that global commodity markets remained unpredictable and geopolitical tensions continued to affect supply chains. However, Reliance’s strong presence in the domestic market, operational discipline and diversified business operations helped the company manage external challenges.

Ambani also pointed to the flexibility of the company’s integrated business model as an important factor supporting its performance during the quarter.

Oil-to-Chemicals Business Records Strong Growth

Reliance’s Oil-to-Chemicals business made a significant contribution to the company’s operating performance during Q2 FY27.

The segment’s EBITDA increased 68% year-on-year to a record ₹25,203 crore, compared with ₹15,008 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from the business also climbed 44%, reaching ₹2.31 lakh crore against ₹1.6 lakh crore in Q2 FY26.

At the consolidated level, EBITDA increased 15% compared with ₹54,067 crore in the year-ago quarter. However, the company’s consolidated EBITDA margin declined by 60 basis points, from 17.8% to 17.2%.

Jio Platforms Reports Higher Profit and ARPU

Reliance’s digital and telecom business also delivered growth during the September quarter. Jio Platforms reported a 14% increase in profit after tax, reaching ₹8,387 crore compared with ₹7,379 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue from operations rose 11.4% to ₹40,475 crore from ₹36,332 crore. The improvement was supported by new subscriber additions and higher average revenue per user (ARPU), an important performance indicator for telecom operators.

Jio’s monthly ARPU increased to ₹218.8 in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹215.6 in the previous quarter and ₹211.4 in Q2 FY26.

The company’s 5G subscriber base crossed 30 crore, while its fixed broadband connections reached 3 crore. Average monthly data consumption per customer also increased to 44.2GB from 38.7GB a year earlier.

The quarterly results marked Jio’s first earnings announcement following its stock market listing on October 28.

Oil and Gas Business Faces a Decline

Unlike the O2C and digital services segments, Reliance’s oil and gas exploration and production business recorded a slight decline during Q2 FY27.

The segment’s EBITDA fell 2% year-on-year to ₹4,901 crore from ₹5,002 crore. Revenue also decreased by 0.6%, reaching ₹6,020 crore compared with ₹6,058 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The decline was attributed to lower production and weaker gas price realisations from the company’s KG-D6 fields. Higher government levies also affected the segment’s financial performance.
