The Jio Platforms IPO attracted strong investor interest, receiving an overall subscription of 22.19 times. The share allotment was finalised on October 26, leaving investors who did not receive shares wondering whether they should enter the stock after its market debut and what price might be suitable.

Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) showed particularly strong demand, with their reserved portion subscribed 70.55 times. For investors who missed the allotment, buying shares in the secondary market requires a fresh assessment of the market price, investment goals and expected returns.

Jio Platforms Share Price: What Experts Say

Dipan Mehta, director of Elixir Equities, has suggested that long-term investors could consider buying Jio Platforms shares around ₹1,300. He also indicated that investors with a long investment horizon could consider adding to their holdings after listing, provided the price remains within a reasonable range.

His view is that investors should focus on the company’s long-term prospects rather than short-term market movements. However, the suggested price is an expert opinion, not a guarantee that the stock will offer positive returns at that level.

Is It Worth Buying Jio Shares Above the IPO Price?

Sneha Poddar, Vice President of Research in Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal, has said that investors with a long-term outlook could consider entering at the IPO price or at levels around 5% to 10% above it.

Poddar also highlighted expectations of possible tariff revisions in the telecom sector, which could provide positive momentum for telecom stocks in the near term.

These expectations may influence market sentiment, but the actual impact will depend on future industry developments and the company’s financial performance. Investors should therefore avoid relying solely on anticipated tariff changes when deciding whether to buy.

Why Jio Platforms Could Attract Long-Term Investors

India’s expanding internet usage and growing adoption of digital technology could create opportunities for telecom and technology companies. Jio Platforms operates in a sector that supports digital connectivity, including mobile networks, 5G services and broadband infrastructure.

Mehta has highlighted Jio’s position alongside Bharti Airtel as one of India’s leading telecom companies. He noted that consumer-facing technology services depend on telecom infrastructure to reach users and expand at scale.

As digital services and communication technologies develop, companies providing the underlying connectivity infrastructure could have opportunities to grow. However, the extent to which Jio Platforms benefits will depend on its execution, competitive position and future business performance.

Should Investors Buy Jio Platforms Shares Now?

Investors who missed the IPO allotment should assess the prevailing market price rather than assuming that the stock will remain attractive at any level. The entry price, investment horizon and tolerance for market risk are important considerations.

The views shared by market experts suggest that some investors with a long-term outlook may consider the stock at certain price levels. However, these are individual assessments, and neither the suggested prices nor the company’s growth prospects guarantee investment gains.

Before buying Jio Platforms shares, investors should review the company’s financial disclosures, valuation and business outlook and make a decision based on their own financial objectives.
