IMD Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Forecast for Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of southern India today, with Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal likely to receive intense showers.

The weather department has also indicated that conditions are becoming favourable for the southwest monsoon to withdraw further. During the next two days, the monsoon is expected to retreat from most parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha, along with some additional areas of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Thunderstorms and Lightning Alert

Apart from heavy rain, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in Uttarakhand, Telangana, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Lakshadweep today.

Similar weather conditions are also likely across Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, where residents may experience thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds.

Strong Winds Expected in Andhra Pradesh

The weather department has also forecast strong surface winds over Andhra Pradesh. These conditions are expected to continue through tomorrow.

People in the affected regions are advised to remain alert during thunderstorms and strong winds and follow local weather advisories.
