HMD appears to be preparing to launch a new smartphone in India, with the company already beginning to tease the upcoming device on social media. A recent post on X, formerly Twitter, offers a first look at the phone’s rear design and confirms that it will be available through Flipkart.
While HMD has not officially revealed the smartphone’s name yet, the teaser appears to point towards an HMD Pro model. The company is also placing considerable focus on the phone’s camera design.
HMD Pro Teaser Highlights Rear Camera Setup
HMD’s teaser carries the tagline, “Pro is about to focus on one thing: your Vibe”, hinting that the camera experience could be one of the key aspects of the upcoming handset.
The 13-second video posted through HMD’s official social media account shows the rear panel of the device. The phone appears to have a silver finish with rounded edges and a vertically arranged dual-camera system.
The camera module has a rounded rectangular design and houses two large circular camera lenses positioned one below the other. A smaller circular element below the upper camera appears to be the LED flash.
New HMD Smartphone Coming to Flipkart
The teaser confirms that the upcoming HMD smartphone will be sold through Flipkart. The device is currently listed as “Coming Soon”, although HMD has not announced its official launch date or pricing.
The timing of the teaser suggests that the smartphone could be introduced around Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale. However, the company has yet to confirm the launch schedule.
The use of the word “Vibe” in the promotional material has also led to speculation that the new handset could be connected to HMD’s Vibe series. At present, though, HMD has not confirmed whether the upcoming phone will be part of that lineup.
What to Expect From the New HMD Phone
For comparison, HMD previously introduced the Vibe 2 5G in India at a starting price of Rs 10,999.
The Vibe 2 5G features a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by an octa-core Unisoc processor. It comes with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.
For photography, the smartphone features a 50MP primary rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It also carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and splashes.
The device is powered by a 6,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
HMD is yet to reveal the specifications, price or official name of the new smartphone. More details are expected to emerge as the company moves closer to its India launch.
