Karnataka’s luxury tourist train, The Golden Chariot, has returned for the 2026–27 travel season with upgraded cabins and a new spa facility. Operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the train began its first journey of the season on October 24, 2026, with services scheduled to continue until March 2027.
Designed to offer a premium travel experience, The Golden Chariot combines South India’s cultural heritage with onboard luxury and guided sightseeing. Each itinerary begins and ends in Bengaluru, with passengers visiting major destinations during the day and returning to the train for overnight stays.
Fares start at ₹2,80,450 per person for a deluxe cabin on a twin-sharing basis, excluding applicable taxes. Travellers can choose from three itineraries covering destinations across Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The train can accommodate up to 80 passengers across 40 cabins, each equipped with an attached bathroom. Ahead of the new season, the cabins received refreshed furnishings, smart televisions and Wi-Fi connectivity. Guests can choose between double-bed and twin-bed arrangements, and cabin options are available for travellers with disabilities.
The train has also upgraded its surveillance and fire safety systems.
Passengers can access the Arogya Spa and Fitness Centre during their journey. Other facilities include the Madira lounge bar and two onboard restaurants, Ruchi and Nalapaka. The restaurants serve South Indian regional specialities alongside international cuisine.
