According to a post shared by the Uttar Pradesh government on social media platform X, more than 1.89 crore eligible families across the state will receive LPG refill subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
The government has earmarked more than ₹1,500 crore specifically for the Diwali-related subsidy.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Its objective is to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged families while encouraging the use of clean cooking fuel.
The scheme is also expected to reduce women’s exposure to harmful smoke produced by traditional cooking fuels, helping protect their health.

After the required conditions are fulfilled, the eligible subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.
