Apple has rolled out its latest software updates, bringing a new Siri AI experience, additional Apple Intelligence features and expanded parental controls. The company has also introduced changes to its subscription services in India, including a new iCloud+ bundle that combines additional Apple services.
The announcements were made on Tuesday alongside the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and tvOS 27. Here is a look at the major changes for Apple users.
New Siri AI Arrives in Beta
Apple has begun rolling out its next-generation Siri AI experience as a beta version in English. The company said support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish is expected to be added in October.
Along with the updated Siri, Apple has introduced additional Apple Intelligence capabilities through its latest software releases.
The updates are aimed at expanding the role of AI across Apple’s ecosystem while bringing new features to compatible devices.
Expanded Parental Controls and Safety Features
The latest software updates also introduce additional tools designed to help parents manage their children’s digital experiences.
Apple has added age-based safeguards for child accounts, while parents can now approve new websites and contacts. The company has also made changes to its Communication Safety features and redesigned the Screen Time experience.
These additions give parents more controls over how children interact with devices and digital content.
iCloud+ Subscribers in India Get Apple TV and Apple Arcade
Apple has announced a major change for iCloud+ subscribers in India. Starting this month, customers with an iCloud+ subscription will receive access to Apple TV and Apple Arcade without paying an additional subscription fee.
The iCloud+ plan starts at Rs 75 per month for 50GB of storage. Subscribers will also receive access to Apple Music Select, which includes a collection of ad-free music stations.
Apple TV offers the company’s original films and series, while Apple Arcade provides access to more than 200 games without advertisements or in-app purchases.
According to Apple, the new iCloud+ offering that includes Apple TV and Apple Arcade will be introduced across more than 100 countries and regions through the end of September.
Changes to Apple Subscriptions in India
Apple is also changing how Apple TV and Apple Arcade subscriptions are offered in India. The two services will no longer be available as separate subscriptions directly through Apple in the country.
Existing subscribers will continue to receive access to the services through their iCloud+ subscription, while their individual subscriptions will be cancelled.
Apple One is also being discontinued for new subscribers in India. However, customers who already have an Apple One subscription will continue to receive access to their existing plans.
Overall, the changes give iCloud+ customers in India access to additional Apple services as part of their existing subscription.
Apple Faces Investigation Over iOS 18 Issues in India
Separately, Apple is facing an investigation in India concerning allegations related to its iOS 18 software update. The matter involves reports of serious problems affecting some iPhones, including display and microphone issues as well as other functional concerns.
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has referred the matter to its investigation wing. The regulator is examining whether affected customers are being required to pay for repairs for problems allegedly caused by a software update.
Apple’s software warranty terms have also come under scrutiny as part of the investigation.
The company’s software licence agreement states that its software is provided without a warranty, while Apple’s limited warranty for its devices generally covers hardware.
