Sanjay Leela Bhansali may revisit his long-awaited project Inshallah after the release of Love & War. The film was originally announced with Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan in the lead roles but was eventually shelved before production began.

With the project now reportedly back in discussion, the biggest question is who will play the male lead alongside Alia if Bhansali moves ahead with the film.

What Is The Latest Update On Inshallah?

Bhansali and Alia Bhatt could reunite for Inshallah once Love & War is released. The project was first announced in 2019 and was scheduled for an Eid 2020 release.

At the time, the film generated considerable interest as it marked Alia’s first collaboration with Bhansali and Salman Khan’s return to working with the filmmaker after nearly two decades.

However, the project did not move forward after Salman reportedly exited the film just days before filming was scheduled to begin. Creative differences were cited as the reason, following which Inshallah was shelved.

Will Salman Khan Return To The Film?

The possibility of Salman returning has become a major talking point following reports about the film’s revival.

Salman and Bhansali have previously worked together on Khamoshi: The Musical and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, while Salman also made an extended cameo appearance in Saawariya. Their professional relationship has also been surrounded by reports of disagreements over the years.

Given the circumstances surrounding Salman’s exit from Inshallah, speculation about whether he could return has naturally resurfaced. However, according to the report, no casting decision has been finalised yet.

Could Shah Rukh Khan Or A Younger Actor Join Alia?

Earlier this year, reports suggested that Shah Rukh Khan could potentially take over the male lead. However, the latest report indicates that the casting remains open.

A source cited that Bhansali generally finalises his cast only after the script is ready. The source also suggested that the story could require a younger actor.

As a result, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan or another actor could potentially be paired with Alia, depending on how Bhansali develops the screenplay.

Alia Bhatt And Bhansali’s Journey After Inshallah

Although Inshallah was shelved, Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali eventually collaborated on Gangubai Kathiawadi.

In an interview, Bhansali recalled how deeply Alia was affected when Inshallah was cancelled. He said that after the project was shelved, she struggled emotionally before he contacted her a week later and offered her the role of Gangubai.

For now, there is no official announcement, confirmed cast or release date for Inshallah. Any decision on the film’s future will depend on Bhansali and the direction he chooses to take after Love & War.
