Gold and silver prices declined sharply on Saturday, October 31, as precious metals faced significant selling pressure in international markets. According to a Bloomberg report, gold dropped to its lowest level in a year and was heading towards its worst monthly performance since the global financial crisis in 2008.
Rising oil prices, growing inflation concerns and weakness in US technology stocks have reportedly encouraged investors to sell bullion to recover losses in other investments.
International gold prices fell as much as 3.6% to $3,876.39 per ounce, their lowest level since early October 2025. The metal was also on track for a monthly decline of more than 6%, marking its steepest monthly fall since October 2008.
Silver also experienced heavy losses, dropping more than 6% to below $49 per ounce. Its monthly decline approached 19%, wiping out the gains made since early December. Silver had previously recorded a sharp two-month rally that pushed its price above $120 per ounce.
