CNG users in Ahmedabad are facing higher fuel expenses after Adani Gas increased compressed natural gas prices by ₹4.45 per kilogram. The latest hike comes ahead of Diwali, adding to the financial pressure on motorists and commercial drivers who rely on CNG for their daily work.
Auto-rickshaw drivers and other daily commuters are among those affected by the increase, as higher fuel costs can put additional pressure on household budgets and earnings.
Ahmedabad CNG Price Rises to ₹98.47 per Kg
Adani Gas had previously increased CNG prices by ₹4 per kilogram in August 2026, taking the rate to ₹94.20 per kilogram. Following the latest increase of ₹4.45, the price in Ahmedabad has reached ₹98.47 per kilogram.
The consecutive price increases have raised fuel expenses for people who depend on CNG-powered vehicles for transportation and commercial activities. The timing is particularly challenging for residents preparing for festive travel and shopping.
Auto-Rickshaw Drivers Express Concern Over Rising Costs
The continued increase in CNG prices has caused concern among auto-rickshaw drivers in Ahmedabad. Drivers say that rising fuel expenses are affecting their earnings, particularly because corresponding fare increases have not been approved by the Transport Commissioner.
Rickshaw operators have previously organised strikes over fare restrictions and competition from ride-sharing applications. The latest price increase during the festive season has added to their concerns about managing operating expenses and household budgets.
Why Has Adani Gas Increased CNG Prices?
An ATGL spokesperson attributed the latest price revision to higher natural gas procurement costs. The company cited limited domestic gas supplies, reduced availability and rising international gas prices amid geopolitical tensions as contributing factors.
According to the spokesperson, ATGL is working to limit the impact on customers while maintaining a consistent supply of CNG. The company also highlighted CNG’s position as an affordable and environmentally friendly fuel option.
The latest increase means Ahmedabad’s CNG users will need to account for higher fuel expenses, while auto-rickshaw drivers continue to face pressure from rising operating costs.
