Samsung has expanded its Galaxy S26 lineup with the Galaxy S26 FE, positioning it as a more affordable option within the series while retaining the company’s familiar premium design and features.
The Galaxy S26 FE is offered in three storage configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM with 512GB storage. In India, Samsung has launched the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant at ₹79,999.
The smartphone is available in Pistachio, Blueberry and Graphite colour options. We tested the Pistachio version as our primary smartphone for nearly two weeks to evaluate its design, display, performance, battery life, software and cameras.
Design and Display
Samsung has retained the structured and familiar design language seen across its premium Galaxy lineup. The Galaxy S26 FE looks refined and should feel instantly familiar to existing Samsung users.
Despite its large display, Samsung has made an effort to keep the handset relatively lightweight. The combination of an aluminium frame and glass rear panel gives the phone a premium appearance, although the construction also makes it feel somewhat delicate.
The phone weighs 193 grams and is comfortable enough to operate with one hand. The power and volume controls are placed on the side, making them easy to reach. The charging port, speakers and SIM card slot are positioned along the bottom edge.
For protection, the Galaxy S26 FE carries an IP68 rating against water and dust. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on both the front and rear.
The phone features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits. This makes the screen bright enough for comfortable viewing both indoors and outdoors.
With a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, the display produces sharp visuals. Colours appear bright while maintaining a natural look, making the screen well suited for watching videos, streaming content and everyday use.
Performance and Battery
The Galaxy S26 FE is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage in the variant tested. It supports dual 5G Nano SIM cards and uses a 3nm octa-core processor developed by Samsung.
In everyday use, the phone delivered smooth performance. Switching between applications such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook and X was largely seamless, with no noticeable lag during regular multitasking.
The handset also remained reasonably cool during normal usage. Even after watching a long-form video continuously for around 20 minutes, there was no significant heating.
Gaming tells a slightly different story. During demanding, graphics-intensive games played for extended sessions of around 30 minutes or more, the rear panel became noticeably warm. Although the device cooled down after a short break, the heat could interrupt longer gaming sessions.
The smartphone packs a 4,900mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging along with 15W wireless charging. With a full charge, it can comfortably last a day under average multitasking conditions.
Samsung does not include a charging adapter in the box. During testing, a POCO charger was used, and it took approximately one hour to charge the phone from 0% to 100%.
Software, Security and Camera
The Galaxy S26 FE runs One UI 9.0 based on Android 17 and comes with Samsung’s Knox security system along with multiple layers of device protection.
The software experience is user-friendly, while Samsung’s security features remain one of the phone’s strengths. However, the device comes with several pre-installed applications that can consume storage and may feel unnecessary to some users. These apps can be removed if they are not required.
On the photography front, the Galaxy S26 FE comes with a triple rear-camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, there is a 12MP front camera.
The camera system produces sharp, detailed and bright images. Daylight photography is particularly good, with vivid colours and clear details.
Low-light photography is also reasonably capable, although images can sometimes show visible grain. Using the flash helps improve results in darker conditions.
Verdict: Is the Galaxy S26 FE Worth Buying?
The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE delivers a premium-looking design, a bright display, capable performance and a strong overall camera experience. Its 193-gram body also makes it relatively comfortable to carry despite the large screen.
For everyday multitasking, photography and regular gaming, the phone performs well. Software and security are additional strengths, although the presence of several pre-installed applications may not appeal to every user.
The camera is among the phone’s highlights, particularly in daylight, where it produces bright and vivid images. Low-light photography remains the weaker area, but overall camera performance is impressive.
At ₹79,999, however, the Galaxy S26 FE sits firmly in the premium price segment. Given the competition from brands such as Apple with the iPhone 17, OnePlus and Motorola, the phone faces strong competition from other premium smartphones that are also available at comparatively lower prices.
