Triumph is preparing to unveil a new addition to its 400cc motorcycle lineup. The company will globally debut the Triumph Bonneville 400 on October 6, bringing a classic retro-inspired roadster to a range that currently includes the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X.
Unlike Triumph’s existing 400cc motorcycles, which feature a more contemporary and sporty appearance, the Bonneville 400 is expected to focus heavily on traditional styling. The motorcycle is also likely to carry design elements inspired by Triumph’s larger Bonneville models.
Triumph Bonneville 400 Global Launch
Triumph has teased the Bonneville 400 along with the upcoming Street Triple and two Tiger motorcycles. The company is scheduled to officially reveal the new motorcycle on October 6.
The Bonneville name has long been associated with Triumph’s larger motorcycles, particularly their classic styling and relaxed riding character. With the Bonneville 400, the company is expected to bring that design philosophy to a smaller-displacement motorcycle.
Spy images of the upcoming bike indicate strong similarities with the larger Bonneville T100 and T120. The motorcycle is expected to feature a large teardrop-style fuel tank, rounded front and rear mudguards, box-shaped side panels and a flat bench-style seat. A peashooter-style exhaust is also expected to complement its traditional appearance.

Bonneville 400 Expected Engine and Mechanical Setup
The motorcycle is expected to use a 349cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine when it arrives in India. Triumph is reportedly expected to use a more relaxed engine tune for the Bonneville 400, matching its classic roadster character.
The engine is likely to be paired with a six-speed gearbox. This setup could make the motorcycle suitable for everyday riding as well as comfortable highway use.
The mechanical package is also expected to differ from Triumph’s more modern 400cc motorcycles. Spy shots suggest conventional telescopic front forks with gaiters and twin rear shock absorbers. The bike is also expected to receive a new chassis, flatter subframe and longer swingarm.
These changes are expected to give the Bonneville 400 a more traditional stance and the visual proportions associated with Triumph’s Bonneville family.

Triumph Bonneville 400 Rivals in India
If launched in India, the Bonneville 400 will enter a competitive modern-retro motorcycle segment where Royal Enfield has a strong presence. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is one of the best-known motorcycles in this category, while the Honda CB350 is another key rival.
The Bonneville 400’s retro styling could help Triumph create a distinct position among these motorcycles while bringing the Bonneville design language to a smaller engine platform.
Triumph Bonneville 400 India Launch and Price
The global unveiling of the Triumph Bonneville 400 is scheduled for October 6, after which expectations for its India launch are likely to increase. However, Triumph has not yet revealed the exact India launch date or official price.
The motorcycle’s positioning and pricing will be important when it eventually arrives in the Indian market. If priced competitively, the Bonneville 400 could become another option for buyers considering motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda CB350.
