SBI customers looking to invest their savings in a Fixed Deposit (FD) can choose from different tenure options offered by the bank. For those considering a 180-day FD, the applicable interest rate differs for general customers, senior citizens and super senior citizens.

The State Bank of India (SBI) offers FD tenures ranging from 7 days to 10 years, with interest rates varying according to the selected period. Here is a look at the interest rates and potential returns available on a 180-day FD.

SBI Interest Rate on 180-Day Fixed Deposit

SBI offers interest rates ranging from 3.05% to 7.15% across its FD schemes, depending on the tenure. For a deposit with a tenure of 180 days, the interest rate ranges from 5.65% to 6.25%, based on the applicable customer category.

Customers can invest an amount of less than ₹3 crore under the FD scheme mentioned in the article.

Senior Citizens Get Higher Interest Rates

SBI provides an additional interest benefit to senior citizens compared with general customers. For a 180-day FD, general customers can receive an interest rate of up to 5.65%.

For customers aged 60 years and above, the interest rate can go up to 6.15% on a 180-day FD. Meanwhile, customers aged 80 years or above can earn up to 6.25% on such deposits.

This means senior citizens receive an additional 0.50 percentage point over the applicable rate for general customers, while super senior citizens receive another 0.10 percentage point over the senior-citizen rate.

SBI’s Amrit Vrishti FD Offer

Apart from its regular FD options, SBI also offers special deposit schemes. The bank is offering a maximum interest rate of 6.45% to general customers under its special 444-day fixed deposit scheme, Amrit Vrishti.

The interest rate available on an FD ultimately depends on the selected tenure and applicable customer category. Customers should check the prevailing SBI rates and terms before opening a deposit.
