Mercedes-Benz has introduced the AMG G 63 Offroad Pro in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.80 crore. Offered in limited numbers, the special edition of the iconic G-Wagon brings additional off-road-focused hardware and technology over the standard AMG G 63.
The new variant is priced Rs 6 lakh higher than the regular AMG G 63. The additional cost brings a range of mechanical and exterior upgrades designed specifically for challenging terrain.
Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro Gets Advanced Off-Road Hardware
The AMG G 63 Offroad Pro features active ride control suspension with active roll stabilisation. It also gets active balance control, allowing the driver to adjust roll stiffness through three different levels depending on the terrain.
Another key addition is the Traction Pro mode, available in the Rock and Sand driving modes. The system can independently manage braking torque at each wheel and offers seven stages of locking for improved control during off-road driving.
Visually, the SUV gets an aluminium-panel roof rack along with a removable ladder at the rear. It rides on exclusive 20-inch AMG alloy wheels finished in matte black, adding to its rugged appearance.
Cabin Features and Off-Road Technology
Inside, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro features a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both running Mercedes’ latest MBUX NTG7 software.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered as standard, along with multiple USB-C ports. The SUV also features an augmented reality navigation system.
The displays can provide a range of information useful during off-road driving, including the vehicle’s position, compass direction, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and temperature. Information about the differential lock status is also available.
A transparent bonnet function is another notable feature. It uses a camera feed to provide a view of the area underneath the front of the SUV, helping the driver negotiate difficult terrain where visibility is limited.
Other equipment includes ambient lighting and an 18-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound system with a 760W output. Safety features include Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera.
4.0-Litre Twin-Turbo V8 Engine
The powertrain remains unchanged from the standard Mercedes-AMG G 63. The Offroad Pro is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 585hp and 850Nm of torque.
The engine is supported by a 22hp 48V mild-hybrid system, while all-wheel drive is offered as standard. Mercedes claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 4.4 seconds.
With its additional off-road equipment and limited availability, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro adds a more terrain-focused version to the G-Wagon lineup in India.
