The Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up monitoring of hospitals operating under the Ayushman scheme and warned that strict action will be taken against facilities that fail to follow the prescribed rules and standards.
To strengthen inspections, the State Health Agency has formed a four-member team. The team has begun conducting surprise checks at hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, according to the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).
Surprise Checks Conducted in Lucknow
SACHIS CEO Archana Verma said the inspections are being carried out on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to assess the facilities and arrangements available at empanelled hospitals.
The four-member team recently conducted surprise inspections at Ayushman Bharat-linked hospitals in Lucknow. During the visits, officials checked the available infrastructure, human resources and staff behaviour. The team also reviewed cleanliness arrangements and the proper handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
Officials further gathered information about the facilities and services being provided to patients at the inspected hospitals.
Hospitals Told to Follow Ayushman Standards
Archana Verma said every hospital empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme is required to comply with the prescribed rules and standards.
She added that hospitals found violating the required standards during inspections will face action according to the applicable rules. All empanelled hospitals have been instructed to ensure complete compliance with the scheme’s requirements.
Focus on Cleanliness, Staff and Patient Facilities
Hospitals have also been asked to give particular attention to cleanliness and staff availability, along with the way patients are treated.
The instructions also cover proper biomedical waste disposal, arrangements in operation theatres and intensive care units, and ensuring that patients receive adequate information about the Ayushman scheme and the facilities available to them.
