New Delhi: The 8th Central Pay Commission will conduct a two-day consultation in Bengaluru on October 7 and 8, 2026, as part of its nationwide exercise to gather views from employees, pensioners and other stakeholders.

The Bengaluru meetings will focus on collecting regional representations concerning salaries, allowances and retirement benefits. Central government employee unions and pensioner organisations in Karnataka seeking an opportunity to present their demands before the commission were required to submit their applications online by September 18.

Who Can Apply for the Bengaluru Meeting?

The consultation is intended for representative organisations and stakeholder groups based in Karnataka. Eligible applicants include:

  • Recognised central government employee unions and federations
  • Union Territory staff associations and departmental representative groups
  • Pensioner associations representing retired civil, defence and railway personnel

Organisations seeking an appointment during the October 7-8 consultation must have already submitted a formal memorandum to the commission.

They must also be appearing before the panel for the first time. Organisations that participated in previous consultation rounds will not be considered for the current Bengaluru exercise.

How Organisations Can Submit Their Requests

Eligible unions and associations can submit their requests online through the official Pay Commission portal. Applications can also be filed through the dedicated submission form available on the National Informatics Centre (NIC) platform.

Applicants need to provide their registration details, mention the memorandum previously submitted to the commission and share information about the delegation that will attend the consultation.

The regional meetings are an important part of the commission’s broader consultation process, allowing representative bodies to place their concerns and demands directly before the panel.

8th Pay Commission: Over 1 Crore People in Focus

The recommendations of the 8th Central Pay Commission are expected to affect the financial interests of more than 1 crore people.

This includes around 50 lakh serving central government employees and nearly 65 lakh pensioners from the civil services, armed forces and railway sector.

The commission was formally constituted on November 3, 2025, and has been given 18 months to complete its work. Based on this timeline, its recommendations are expected to be submitted by May 2027.

After the final report is submitted, the revised pay scales and pension-related benefits are expected to be implemented across government departments by 2029 or 2030.
