Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma has finally arrived in cinemas after facing multiple delays. The action-heist film, led by Sundeep Kishan, opened on October 2 but recorded a modest start at the Indian box office. According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk.com, the movie earned around Rs 2.35 crore net on its first day.

The film had a total of 1,813 shows across India on its opening day. Its estimated gross collection stood at nearly Rs 2.70 crore, while the net collection was reported at Rs 2.35 crore. Overseas box office figures were not available at the time of reporting.

With considerable attention surrounding Jason Sanjay’s first film as a director, the initial numbers will now be followed by the audience response and weekend performance.

Sigma Opening Day Collection in Tamil and Telugu

Sigma has been released in both Tamil and Telugu, with the two versions contributing to its overall opening-day business.

The Tamil version reportedly collected around Rs 90 lakh from 656 shows. Meanwhile, the Telugu version earned approximately Rs 69 lakh from 625 shows, based on the latest figures cited by Sacnilk.com.

The remaining collection came from the film’s other reported shows and markets across India.

Mixed Audience Reactions to Sigma

The response to Sigma has been mixed following its theatrical release. Some viewers have appreciated Sundeep Kishan’s performance, especially his work in the action portions. A section of the audience has also referred to the movie as a “mass feast.”

However, not everyone has responded positively to the film. Some viewers have expressed the opinion that Jason Sanjay’s first directorial effort could have been executed more effectively.

The mixed word of mouth could play an important role in determining how Sigma performs during the rest of its opening weekend.

Jason Sanjay Receives Support From Family and Industry

The release of Sigma marks an important milestone for Jason Sanjay, who is the son of actor-turned-politician Vijay. His family also showed their support as the film opened in theatres, with Vijay’s wife and daughter watching the movie.

Several people from the film industry had also wished Jason and his team ahead of the release. Actress Jyotika was among those who publicly extended her support.

In an Instagram post featuring Jason with the Sigma poster, Jyotika congratulated him on his directorial debut and praised his journey and personality. She also wished Jason and the entire team success for the film’s release.

Sigma Story, Cast and Crew

The story follows Guru, a treasure hunter and radio host whose life takes a difficult turn after he is betrayed. He later sets his sights on a Rs 500-crore racket controlled by Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy.

Rather than taking on the powerful network directly, Guru teams up with his friends and associates to plan an elaborate heist. However, the situation becomes increasingly complicated when fresh betrayals and unexpected twists threaten the operation.

The film combines action, comedy and heist elements as Guru attempts to outsmart the syndicate and keep his plan on track.

Sundeep Kishan plays Guru, while Faria Abdullah features as the female lead. Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt and Yog Japee are also part of the supporting cast.

Sigma went through several delays before finally getting its theatrical release on October 2. Thaman S has composed the music for the film, with Jason Sanjay making his directorial debut.
