Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has commented on the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff, describing it as a “never before seen phenomenon.” In a post on social media, Varma suggested that the attack appeared to be motivated by vanity and pride rather than conventional criminal motives such as extortion, contract killings or personal disputes.
Sharing his reaction, Varma wrote, “What happened with TIGERSHROFF is a never before seen phenomenon. Instead of killings relating to extortion, contract murders, settlements etc, for the first time ever, they seem to be wanting to kill for vanity and pride.”
The incident took place on October 19 outside a football club near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu, Mumbai. Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed, but his driver and an autorickshaw driver sustained injuries during the firing.
According to reports, three people suspected of involvement in the incident were subsequently apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan.
Bollywood Celebrities React to the Firing Incident
The incident has prompted concern among members of the film industry, with several personalities expressing support for Tiger Shroff and his family while urging the authorities to take swift action.
Actor Urvashi Rautela described the incident as deeply disturbing and extended her support to the actor and his family. She said, “It’s very deeply disturbing. My heartfelt strength and prayers to Tiger and his family. And I really hope that the authorities take swift action. Like really fast.”
Ashoke Pandit Condemns the Attack
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also strongly condemned the firing incident, expressing relief that Tiger Shroff had not suffered any fatal injuries. Speaking on behalf of members of the film industry and associated organisations, he voiced solidarity with the actor’s family during the difficult time.
Pandit said, “I, on behalf of Film, on behalf of the National Institute of Industry and Employees, on behalf of the Director’s Association and in part the producers group, condemn this attack on one of the major celebrities of our industry. And I thank God that nothing fatal happened and he is safe. One really feels quite shocked and quite pained. And we all stand by Jackie Shroff and the entire family in this hour of crisis.”
He also acknowledged the emotional distress that the incident could cause Tiger’s father, actor Jackie Shroff, and the rest of the family. According to Pandit, the attack has added to the growing sense of insecurity within the film industry.
Ashoke Pandit Recalls Attack on Rohit Shetty’s House
Drawing attention to another recent incident, Pandit recalled the attack on filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, where bullets were fired a few months earlier.
“One can understand the trauma which Jackie and the entire family must be undergoing now. They must have never expected that this will happen to their son. The entire atmosphere of insecurity, unsafe, has crept into the industry. It was the second attack on our industry in recent times, where earlier, a few months back, Rohit Shetty’s house was under attack. Bullets were fired on his house also,” he added.
The firing incident involving Tiger Shroff has once again raised concerns about the safety of prominent members of the film fraternity. While the actor remained unharmed, the injuries sustained by two drivers and the reactions from industry members have brought the issue of security into focus.
