PM Kisan Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme continues to provide financial support to eligible farming families across India. Under the scheme, qualifying farmers receive ₹6,000 every year, with the amount divided into three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each and transferred directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
So far, the government has disbursed more than ₹4.47 lakh crore through 23 instalments. Farmers are now waiting for the 24th PM Kisan instalment, which could potentially be released before Diwali. However, there is no official confirmation of the payment date yet.
Importantly, simply having agricultural land in your name does not automatically make you eligible for PM-KISAN. The government’s eligibility conditions also take into account factors such as family status, income, occupation and completion of required verification procedures.
If a farmer receives the benefit despite being ineligible or provides incorrect information, the government can recover the amount later.
PM Kisan 24th Installment: Who May Be Excluded?
Farmers waiting for the next ₹2,000 payment should check whether they continue to meet the scheme’s eligibility requirements. The following categories may not receive PM-KISAN benefits.
1. More Than One Family Member Receiving Benefits
PM-KISAN benefits are intended for an eligible farming family rather than multiple members of the same family.
Therefore, if more than one person from the same eligible farming family is receiving the benefit, the additional beneficiary may be excluded. In simple terms, the benefit is not meant to be claimed separately by both a father and son from the same farming family.
2. Farmers Without Cultivable Land in Their Name
Land ownership is an important eligibility condition under PM-KISAN.
Farmers who do not have eligible cultivable land registered in their own name may not qualify for financial assistance under the scheme.
Having access to or working on someone else’s agricultural land does not automatically make a person eligible for PM-KISAN.
3. e-KYC or Land Verification Is Incomplete
Farmers should ensure that their e-KYC has been completed to avoid problems with the upcoming instalment.
Similarly, pending land-record verification can affect the release of PM-KISAN payments. If the required verification has not been completed, the ₹2,000 instalment may be held back until the details are verified.
4. Families With an Income Tax Payer
Certain taxpayers are excluded from receiving PM-KISAN benefits.
If a member of the farming family paid income tax during the previous assessment year, the family may not qualify for the scheme.
Farmers should therefore ensure that their beneficiary details and family information are accurate.
5. Certain Professionals Are Not Eligible
PM-KISAN also excludes certain categories of professionals from receiving the benefit.
These include professionals such as:
- Doctors
- Engineers
- Lawyers
- Chartered Accountants
- Architects
Therefore, eligible agricultural land ownership alone does not guarantee PM-KISAN assistance if the beneficiary falls under one of the excluded professional categories.
When Will the PM Kisan 24th Installment Be Released?
The PM-KISAN scheme generally follows a four-month cycle for releasing its instalments.
Based on the existing payment cycle and reports regarding the next instalment, the 24th instalment could potentially arrive around late October or early November, possibly before Diwali.
However, farmers should note that the government has not officially announced the release date of the 24th instalment yet.
Therefore, farmers are advised not to rely on social media posts or unverified claims regarding the payment date.
Check Your PM Kisan Eligibility Before the Next Payment
Farmers waiting for the 24th instalment should make sure their e-KYC, land records and beneficiary details are properly updated.
The most important point is that receiving PM-KISAN money depends on meeting the scheme’s eligibility conditions. If a farmer receives payments despite being ineligible because of incorrect or misleading information, the government may seek recovery of the amount.
For now, farmers should wait for an official announcement regarding the PM Kisan 24th instalment date and avoid believing unverified information.
