New Delhi: Daily commuters travelling on Namo Bharat trains can now make their journeys more convenient with the newly introduced ‘Trip Pass’ facility. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched this facility to simplify travel for passengers who regularly commute between the same two stations.
With the Trip Pass, passengers do not need to purchase a separate ticket for every journey. Instead, they can buy a set number of trips in advance for a fixed route, helping them avoid queues at ticket counters.
What Is the Namo Bharat Trip Pass?
The Trip Pass works as a bulk travel facility for passengers who frequently use Namo Bharat trains. Similar to a pass used for regular public transport, it allows commuters to purchase multiple trips between two selected stations in advance.
Passengers can choose a pass for one or two weeks at a time, making it useful for people travelling regularly to offices, schools, colleges and other fixed destinations.
However, the pass is restricted to the route selected at the time of purchase. For instance, a Trip Pass purchased for travel between Begumpul and Sarai Kale Khan can only be used between these two stations.
If a passenger gets down at a station before or beyond the selected stations, the Trip Pass will not apply. In case of travel to another station, the applicable regular fare will be deducted from the NCMC Global Wallet.
Where Can Passengers Buy the Trip Pass?
The Trip Pass can generally be purchased from counters located near the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at Namo Bharat stations.
Passengers can also add more trips through the Electronic Fare Office and Ticket Vending Machines.
The facility is available for both Standard and Premium coaches, with pass options covering between 1 and 40 trips.
Trip Pass Discount and Loyalty Benefits
The Trip Pass can help regular passengers save time while also providing a 10% discount on every trip.
NCMC card users travelling on Namo Bharat trains are also covered under the loyalty programme. Under this programme, passengers receive one loyalty point for every ₹1 spent on Namo Bharat travel. Each point has a value of ₹0.10, while 300 loyalty points can be redeemed for one free trip.
The facility is designed to make frequent travel easier by reducing the need to repeatedly purchase QR tickets or recharge a wallet or card for individual journeys.
Refund Rules for Different Trip Passes
Passengers can select the number of trips according to their travel requirements. However, refund rules vary depending on the pass selected.
The 10-trip pass is non-refundable. Meanwhile, passengers with 15, 20 and 40-trip passes can request a refund after deduction of an administrative fee of ₹200.
Overall, the Trip Pass provides regular Namo Bharat commuters with an advance travel option for fixed routes, reducing the need for daily ticket purchases and making routine journeys more convenient.
