Mahindra’s upcoming compact SUV based on the Vision S concept has been spotted again, giving a closer look at its rear design. The latest test mule features slim vertical tail lamps mounted on the rear pillars, a styling element that resembles the setup seen on the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N.
The SUV is expected to enter the sub-4-metre segment, with its production version reportedly scheduled for launch around August 2027. While the final name has not been confirmed, the Scorpio-inspired rear design has already drawn attention.
Mahindra Vision S: New Rear Design Details
The most noticeable feature in the latest spy images is the vertical tail-lamp arrangement. The slim units are positioned on either side of the rear windscreen and feature stacked horizontal red lighting elements.
This layout gives the SUV a distinctive rear appearance and closely resembles the tall vertical lamps used on the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N.
The test vehicle also appears to have a rear wiper and a number plate mounted on the bumper. Lower down, rectangular lighting elements can be seen, although their exact purpose is not clear at this stage.
16-Inch Wheels and Possible Independent Rear Suspension
The latest images also provide details about the SUV’s tyre setup. Markings visible on the spare wheel indicate a 235/70 R16 tyre size. This means the tyre is 235 mm wide and designed for a 16-inch wheel.
Such a combination could be useful for providing additional cushioning over uneven roads and rough surfaces.
Another interesting detail is visible around the rear suspension area. The spy images show suspension linkages extending inward from the wheel section. The arrangement appears similar to an independent rear suspension setup. If Mahindra carries this configuration into the production vehicle, it could become one of the notable mechanical features of the SUV.
Cabin and Expected Features
Earlier sightings of the Vision S-based SUV have provided some clues about its interior. The dashboard was seen with two horizontal screens, while vertically positioned air-conditioning vents and an electronic parking brake were also visible.
Based on Mahindra’s recent SUV direction, the production model is expected to feature a modern touchscreen infotainment system, digital displays and connected-car technology. However, the complete equipment list has not yet been revealed.
Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid or Electric Powertrain?
The Vision S-based SUV is expected to be developed on Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture and positioned in the sub-4-metre SUV category.
Several powertrain possibilities are being considered, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric options. Mahindra has not yet officially confirmed which engine or drivetrain combinations will be offered in the production model.
The production version is currently expected to arrive around August 2027. Since the launch is still some time away, Mahindra could make further changes to the vehicle’s styling, features, powertrain specifications and even its final name before the official introduction.
