LPG consumers should pay attention to the latest e-KYC requirement as October 1 approaches. According to the updated rules mentioned by oil companies and the Ministry of Petroleum, consumers who have not completed e-KYC may no longer receive the government subsidy on LPG cylinders from October 1, 2026.
With the festive season approaching, many households are preparing for the new month. However, changes in LPG-related rules could affect consumers who are still waiting to complete or verify their e-KYC.
Will Your LPG Connection Be Disconnected?
Social media posts have been circulating claiming that LPG connections will be cancelled from October 1 if consumers fail to complete e-KYC. This claim is false.
Not completing e-KYC will not result in the cancellation or disconnection of an LPG connection. The main impact will be on the subsidy benefit linked to the connection.
Consumers who have not completed the required verification may have to purchase LPG cylinders at the applicable market price instead of receiving the subsidy.
What Happens If You Have Not Completed e-KYC?
Consumers who have not completed e-KYC may lose the subsidy benefit of around ₹210 per cylinder from October 1. Their LPG connection, however, will continue to remain active.
Once the required biometric verification is completed, eligible consumers can resume receiving the applicable subsidy benefit. Those who have already completed biometric e-KYC do not need to repeat the process.
The e-KYC facility is available through the respective gas company’s official mobile application. Consumers may need the Aadhaar Face RD application along with the app of their LPG provider:

How to Check Your LPG e-KYC Status
Completing e-KYC does not always mean the process has been successfully recorded. Technical issues can sometimes prevent the verification from being reflected in the system, making it important for consumers to check their status.
Bharat Gas customers:
Visit the Bharat Gas website and log in to your account. Go to the “Check KYC Status” section. If the page shows “Aadhaar Number Linked” and “KYC Verified,” your e-KYC has been completed successfully.
Indane Gas customers:
Open the IndianOil ONE app and log in. Select “Menu” from the home page and then go to “My Profile.” The “Re-KYC Status” section will show your current verification status. If it displays “Valid,” your e-KYC is complete.
Consumers who have already completed biometric verification should still check their status to ensure that the process has been properly updated.
