LPG consumers need to complete Aadhaar e-KYC to continue booking domestic cooking gas cylinders at subsidised rates. The new requirement came into effect from October 1, 2026, as part of the government’s effort to ensure that subsidy benefits reach eligible consumers.

Consumers who have already completed the required verification can continue booking domestic LPG refills as usual.

What Happens If LPG e-KYC Is Not Completed?

Consumers who have not completed Aadhaar e-KYC will not be able to book the 14.2-kg domestic LPG refill at the subsidised or regulated price. However, they can still purchase LPG at market-linked rates.

According to the information released regarding the new arrangement, customers can opt for 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders or 10-kg composite fibre cylinders at market prices. They can select the required option through the digital platforms of the oil marketing companies.

The move is expected to affect consumers who have not yet completed the required Aadhaar-based verification.

How Can You Complete Aadhaar e-KYC?

LPG consumers have several ways to complete the biometric verification process. The authentication can be carried out when the LPG delivery person arrives with the cylinder.

Consumers can also visit their LPG agency or distributor to complete the verification. Another option is to use the official mobile applications of the three public-sector oil marketing companies and complete the process digitally, where the facility is available.

LPG Cylinder Prices From October 1

Along with the new LPG verification requirement, commercial LPG prices were revised from October 1. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi increased by ₹62.50 to ₹2,810. Meanwhile, the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remained unchanged at ₹942 in Delhi.

The price of the 5-kg FTL cylinder has also increased, while household domestic LPG prices have not changed under the October 1 revision.

Why Is Aadhaar e-KYC Being Made Mandatory?

The main objective of the verification requirement is to ensure that LPG subsidy benefits are provided to genuine and eligible consumers. The measure is also intended to address issues such as duplicate connections and the unauthorised commercial use of domestic LPG cylinders.

The estimated subsidy on a 14.2-kg cylinder in September was around ₹210. The government has also provided compensation of ₹30,000 crore to oil marketing companies for the financial years 2025-26 and 2026-27.
