LPG, CNG and PNG prices remained unchanged on October 4, although commercial LPG users are facing higher costs following the increase announced earlier this month. On October 1, the government raised the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders in major metropolitan cities.
The increase is expected to add to the operating expenses of restaurants, hotels, food outlets and other businesses that depend on commercial LPG for their daily operations.
The latest revision comes amid volatility in global energy markets. Brent crude rose 4.4% to close at $102.31 per barrel on October 1, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 2.7% to settle at $91.11 following reports that the US had deployed a third carrier battle group in the West Asia theatre.
LPG Cylinder Prices on October 4
The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder differs from one city to another. Local taxes, transportation expenses and other regional factors contribute to these variations.
While commercial LPG has become costlier, the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged. Domestic LPG is primarily used by households, whereas commercial cylinder prices are revised more frequently in response to changes in international crude oil and LPG markets.

US-Iran Conflict and Global Energy Markets
The latest developments involving the US and Iran continue to remain important for global energy markets. US President Donald Trump has again said that the conflict involving Iran could come to an end soon. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the situation would end “very soon one way or the other.”
Iran, meanwhile, said it had received a response from the US to Tehran’s proposal concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Senior Iranian leaders are reviewing Washington’s counterproposal.
Qatar has also expressed hope that diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran could lead to a breakthrough. At the same time, Trump has denied reports that he was prepared to ease sanctions or release frozen Iranian funds in exchange for concessions related to Iran’s nuclear programme.
