Motorists visiting Jio-BP fuel stations may have to pay more for petrol and diesel following a reported increase in retail prices. Jio-BP, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and BP, has reportedly raised petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre. The development follows a similar price revision by Nayara Energy earlier in October.
The increase could affect the fuel expenses of private vehicle owners, transport operators and other diesel consumers. Customers are advised to check the latest rates at their local petrol pumps before refuelling, as prices can vary by location.
Jio-BP Petrol and Diesel Prices in Punjab and Haryana
According to reports, the revised prices took effect on Sunday. In Punjab, petrol at Jio-BP outlets is reportedly priced at around ₹108.54 per litre, while diesel costs approximately ₹99.19 per litre.
In Haryana, petrol prices at Jio-BP stations have reportedly reached about ₹109.80 per litre, with diesel available at approximately ₹97.75 per litre.
Nayara Energy, which is backed by Rosneft, had also increased petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel prices by ₹3 per litre on October 3.
Actual retail prices may differ depending on the location and the latest rates charged by individual fuel stations.
Why Has Jio-BP Increased Fuel Prices?
The reported price revision comes amid concerns about international crude oil supplies and disruptions to energy markets. The source information links these pressures to the February conflict involving Iran and the United States and the disruption affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
While other fuel retailers had adjusted prices in response to market conditions, the report describes this as Jio-BP’s first petrol and diesel price increase of the year.
Jio-BP is a partnership between Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, and British energy company BP. The company operates 2,227 petrol pumps across India, according to the information provided.
Jio-BP’s Diesel Purchase Limit and Fuel Supply
In September, Jio-BP introduced a limit of 50 litres of diesel per transaction, according to the report. The company has also stated that its petrol pumps remain operational with adequate fuel supplies.
Jio-BP said it was taking appropriate measures to support fair fuel distribution for transportation and other requirements in line with prevailing demand.
On October 1, Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, announced that the government planned to engage with private refiners over restrictions on diesel sales and encourage them to remove such limits.
Will Other Petrol Pumps Also Increase Prices?
The reported increase at Jio-BP and the earlier revision by Nayara Energy may influence where motorists choose to refuel. Some customers may consider alternative fuel stations if they find lower prices elsewhere.
However, the information provided states that state-owned oil marketing companies have not changed their petrol and diesel prices. Since most petrol pumps in India are operated by state-owned companies, motorists may compare local rates before choosing where to purchase fuel.
