Rajinikanth is all set to return as Muthuvel “Tiger” Pandian in Jailer 2, and the makers have now unveiled several new additions to the cast. Following the huge success of the first film, anticipation around the sequel has been building steadily, with the newly announced characters adding further curiosity about the story.
Here is a look at the new cast members, returning actors and reported cameo appearances in Jailer 2.
Jailer 2 New Cast
The makers have introduced the new characters through intriguing teasers, offering a glimpse of the roles they could play in the sequel.
Vidya Balan as Kantha
Vidya Balan will make her entry into the Jailer franchise as Kantha. She is set to play the new antagonist and is currently the only Bollywood actor among the announced cast. Vidya’s look features a deep blue saree, a black blouse and short hair.
Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep
Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu has joined the sequel as Dileep. His character is among the new additions introduced by the makers.
SJ Suryah as Bodhi Kalpak
Popular South Indian actor SJ Suryah will portray Bodhi Kalpak in Jailer 2. His inclusion adds another prominent name to the sequel’s ensemble cast.
Jailer 2 Returning Cast
Several key actors from the first film are also expected to reprise their respective roles. Rajinikanth will return as Muthuvel “Tiger” Pandian, while Yogi Babu will be back as Vimal.
The returning cast also includes Mirnaa as Swetha Pandian, Rithvik as Rithu Pandian and Ramya Krishnan as Vijaya “Viji” Pandian.
Jailer 2 Cameos and Rumoured Appearances
The sequel is also expected to feature some notable appearances. Mohanlal is set to return as Mathew, while Shiva Rajkumar will reprise his role as Naras.
Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi have also been linked to the film, although their appearances remain rumoured.
Jailer 2 Story and Release Date
The first Jailer centred on a retired jailer who enjoys a quiet life with his family. His life changes when his son, a police officer, goes missing and is believed to have been killed. The incident pushes him back into his old world as he sets out to discover who is responsible.
Jailer 2 is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Mithun Chakraborty, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna have also reportedly joined the sequel.
Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, with Vijay Kartik Kannan handling cinematography and R. Nirmal serving as the editor.
Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026.
