Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has been transferred from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for medical evaluation and treatment, following more than 1,100 days in custody.

According to reports, Khan has spent 1,111 days in prison and is now undergoing medical examinations for concerns involving hypertension, heart-related issues, anxiety and eye problems.

Medical Board Evaluates Imran Khan Before Transfer

A medical board examined Khan at Adiala Jail before authorities approved his transfer to the Islamabad hospital.

Following the decision, security agencies made extensive preparations around Shifa International Hospital to ensure the former prime minister could be moved safely and receive medical care under controlled conditions.

Khan is expected to undergo a series of tests, with doctors assessing his cardiovascular health, blood pressure, mental wellbeing and eyesight.

Parts of Shifa Hospital Declared a Sub-Jail

Security was significantly increased at Shifa International Hospital ahead of Khan’s arrival.

Two executive floors, A-4 and E-4, have reportedly been designated as a sub-jail for the former prime minister. Islamabad Police have taken control of the relevant areas and restricted access around the designated ward.

Gate One has been reserved for Khan’s entry, while security checks have been strengthened across the hospital’s other access points.

Authorities have also closed roads leading towards the facility and cleared nearby parking areas as part of the security arrangements.

More Than 830 Police Personnel Deployed

Islamabad Police have deployed more than 830 personnel for Khan’s hospital transfer and security.

The officers have been assigned to two shifts, covering the hospital and surrounding areas continuously from 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am.

Senior police officials are reportedly overseeing the operation and monitoring the security arrangements during Khan’s stay at the hospital.

Mobile Phones Restricted and Signal Jammers Used

Security measures inside the designated hospital area have also been tightened. Hospital staff working within the restricted zone have reportedly been prohibited from carrying mobile phones.

Authorities have additionally activated signal-jamming equipment around the secured area. Senior doctors and department heads have been brought together at the hospital as Khan undergoes his medical assessment.

Former health minister Dr Faisal Sultan and Khan’s sister, Dr Uzma Khan, are accompanying him during the hospital visit.

The transfer marks a significant development after Khan’s prolonged incarceration, allowing him to receive medical examinations and treatment outside Adiala Jail under exceptionally tight security.
