Gold and silver prices have started moving higher after a sharp decline in gold rates over the previous two days. With the wedding season and several festivals approaching, the lower gold prices attracted buying from investors and jewellers, providing support to domestic rates.
As of September 24, 2026, the price of 24-carat gold increased by ₹8,700 per 100 grams, equivalent to a rise of ₹870 per 10 grams. This came after gold had fallen by ₹25,100 per 100 grams, or ₹2,510 per 10 grams, over the preceding two days.
Why Did Gold Prices Rise?
The recent fall in gold prices encouraged investors and jewellers to increase their purchases. The ₹25,100 decline over two days created an opportunity for buyers, particularly with the wedding and festive season approaching.
Higher demand at lower price levels provided support to the domestic gold market and contributed to the rise seen today.
China’s Gold Demand Also Supports Prices
China remains the world’s largest consumer of gold, and demand from both its central bank and retail investors continues to remain strong.
According to the figures provided, China imported more than 1,000 tonnes of gold by August this year, significantly exceeding the amount purchased during the same period last year. Strong international demand has also supported gold prices in the domestic market.
